Being Authentic

McKnightEnterprises.org

Great houses not only have fine silver and gold in them but also items made of wood and earth. When one goes into a great house, one tends to look for the finer items that have more value than those made of a lesser substance. Some people fill their homes with things that bring prestige to them because they are trying to be in a social status or class that defines who they are. Gold, silver, diamonds, and artwork are examples of items that people use to determine their value or what they’re worth.

The Apostle Paul didn’t want us to miss the fact that there are all kinds of vessels in the Kingdom of God that are valuable:

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. ( 2 Timothy 2:20)

For some, their value may be greater but God shows no partiality. Therefore, everyone must go through a process. Part of the purifying processes of gold, silver, and wood is going through the fire. There are many stories in the Bible of those who were tried by the fire and also whose works were tested. Furthermore, if we desire to be a vessel of honor, we cannot escape God’s purifying process.

It's not so much about what you are made of … being authentic will help determine your worth.
