Essential … You Must Have Oil

McKnightEnterprises.org

Olive oil was the main essential ingredient of the anointing oil back in days of old, along with other spices. Oil was used for many purposes since the beginning of time. It was used for lamps, to cook food, to anoint people and things (skins), medicines, personal grooming, perfumes, and such. It was used also when burying people.

If you had an abundance of oil (just like today), you were considered wealthy because it was a commodity needed by all. Oil was also symbolic of wisdom, wealth, and the Holy Spirit. The Anointed One was Christ personified.

I once had the opportunity to go to Israel. and while there we went to an olive press. I saw with my own eyes how much oil came from one olive. The entire olive was crushed and only one drop of oil was released and it was enough to cover one’s fingertip. So, of course, I now had to search to find out how many olives yield how much oil. It varied according to the sizes of the olives, but here is what I found out. Approximately 40 medium size olives make 1 tablespoon of oil, 7 to 8 pounds of olives make about 13 ounces, and 40 pounds of olives make one gallon of oil. There are several ways the oil is processed now compared to the old oil press or the olives being trodden on, that may capture more oil than in earlier days.

Think of that in a spiritual sense. How many drops of oil did it take to fill your personal bottle?  And now, God  is asking you to sacrifice once more and POUR it out and on His Body. Can He count on you to you share your oil with others?

It's PTO season … Pour The Oil.
