Green Pastures, Still Waters

Throughout my journey, the Good Shepherd leads me to green pastures and beside the still waters, because He knew where I was ahead. Green pastures represent provision and stills waters are a place of peace.
Remember when your parents told you as a child, “Go lay down.” It was their way of saying, “You’re tired and need a nap.” In other words, it is time to rest. For us, rest means getting replenished, refreshed, and eating the Word of God to be prepared for the journey that will present challenges along the way. During a time of rest, the Shepherd never tells the sheep to lie down in an area that is not grassy, or in the desert where there is no water, or by a watering hole where the danger lurks. He always leads His sheep to an open plush area where He can watch them in a very peaceful and secure environment.
I love to go by the water when I need to be refreshed. I don’t always get in the water, but I love walking or sitting by it. This is a place where I can hear God. It is the place where the deep calls to my deep.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. (Psalms 42:7)
When I’m at this place, I’m like a deer panting for water. I love listening quietly for His answers and direction, as I am sitting and inhaling in the peaceful air.
It is hard to hear God’s instruction and sound wisdom clearly, during a storm with chaos around you. God loves you and wants you to have a good and happy life. So, be still and know He is God. He’s got you!
