Harvest Time

McKnightEnterprises.org

Famines in the Bible, in most cases, meant something was off track or God was not pleased with something. This could be in one’s personal life or even in the land or its people.

What comes after a famine many times in the Bible is the barley season.

I began a study on the word barley and to discover what occurs during the barley season. Barley, pretty simple, is a grain but the etymology or root wood means, to be caught in a whirl wind, a horrible time, to dread, to sweep away, to be tempestuous, or come as a storm.  It means to shudder or quiver and have your hair stand on end.  Fear is one thing … terror is another. So, what comes before a harvest? A storm.

Have you been in a storm? I pray a harvest over you and yours.

Most times harvest is equated with fall. With God, seasons come and go in each of our lives at different times. Can you imagine how sad it would be if all of us were hurting or sick at the same time? Who would help who? Our seasons, ages, circumstances, and location in life spreads us differently across the globe. Prayerfully, we stay connected by one thing … love. God’s love for us. The world is going through tough times. If you have a harvest to share, give, if not, lend. It’s a blessing to see others helping those recovering from fires, floods, storms and great loss. As you have received, freely give. God has got you either way!
