Seasons and Reasons

There is a reason and a season for everything. I’m sure we all have had a few testing seasons of our own. The tests God takes us through vary due to the time and intensity of our situation. While you are in God’s seasons, you can’t put a time limit on them. They can last longer than the natural seasons on earth.


I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 4: 11-12)


If you have been a Christian for a reasonable length of time you should be somewhat familiar with the characteristics of God’s seasons:


Spring is a time of turning up the dead things and planting new seeds.


Summer is a time of being exposed and bearing fruit.


Fall is a time of harvest and gathering the spoils.


Winter is a time when everything is still, cold, and hidden under the snow.


It is a time when everything seems to be dead or dormant, which is a better word for this season. Dormant means to be sleeping, resting, inactive or hidden.


Many who are called to greatness have experienced being hidden, out of sight, unknown or undeveloped. For many called to greatness, there was a time no one knew who they were or where they came from. God had them hidden in a spiritual training camp. God will hide you and when it is time He will put you right on the front line with everyone else. People will wonder, “Who is that? Where did they come from? How did they get there?”


Remember, every Season has a Reason! Wait on Him!


But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
