And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city. And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. (Joshua 6:16-21)
We teach people to shout to get attention when they are held captive. We teach our children to scream and run when an abductor tries to kidnap them. We teach to do whatever it takes not to become a victim of someone’s evil. We too, must shout the walls down when God gives us the okay to get out! Do like Rahab and go for broke. Once you have the plan of escape, get ready to run.
Shout the walls down of the past that people try to remind you of. We all make mistakes, but there are those who want to expose our mistakes. They judge us when they don’t even know our history, and their information may be incomplete. When you see someone fighting for change, help that person rather than putting them down. Don’t keep them locked in a mental prison because you can’t get over what they did or who they were. Do what you must do to shut the mouth of your enemy! If need be … scream right in their face. Let them know you are not hearing their words nor allowing them to speak to you in a disrespectful manner any longer. Scream at those bullies of fear … they will back down if they sense that you are serious.
In times of opposition, find the opportunity. Choose what is worth fighting for and get whatever information you need to take you to your next level. Don’t allow your past to deny you a future!
