The Seed of Greatness

Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. (Isaiah 66:9)

I remember when we were waiting for the arrival of my grandson. It felt like an eternity watching my daughter go through the stages of delivery. I saw how God uses everything to show us His sovereignty.

People had all types of suggestions on how to help move this last stage of her pregnancy forward and nothing worked. We had to rest and know that it would happen when it happened. The doctor had given her an expected due date. According to what I have observed very few people deliver exactly on the date that is given. The date is to prepare you for the baby’s arrival.

My daughter was in labor for approximately twenty-five hours. The hospital maternity staff had to hook her up to a monitor to watch the heart rate of the baby to make sure the baby was staying very active during this time. Finally, after many hours, he, little Isaiah came forth. It turned out the mother had delivered a week earlier than planned. Thank God Isaiah was fully developed and healthy. It was the fullness of his time.

All the pain and suffering the mother went through turned into joy once that little bundle arrived. The moments of suffering cannot compare to the joy that is experienced when you lay eyes on the little kicker that was jumping inside of you waiting to get out. All the heartburn, nausea, sleepless nights, being uncomfortable, having restricted movement, sharp pains in the side seem like light afflictions compared to the glory of having that new baby in your arms!

Jesus' suffering was for us and His purpose was the cross, which contained His joy.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (John 15:11)

How will we know when it’s our season, our time? We can gage it by the spirit, and now and then God will reveal a date to the one He has cut His covenant with. Then, there are times it just happens, seemingly overnight. God carefully watches and monitors our progress and knows the exact date we will be released to the earth. He knows all of our birth dates … naturally and spiritually. God planted a seed of greatness in you and will give you the strength to bring it forth.
