Sticks and stones will break bones but words will never hurt you. ~Old Adage

Oh, how untrue we are finding this  to be! It's those deep-seated words that are embedded in one's spirit that is causing so much pain.

There is a story about a little boy who kept saying mean things about people. His father thought of a way to show his son the severity of harsh words and how they never go away. He told him every time he wanted to say something mean to someone to take a nail and pound it into the fence.  After a while the son noticed that he had quite a few nails in the fence. His observation caused him to realize how many times he could have said a harsh word. The boy asked his father what he should do. His father instructed him to remove the nails from the fence. The boy thought this would reverse what he did but the holes the nails left remained. He learned that bitter words still leave scars way after you ask for forgiveness.

Then one wrong word hits that painful place. This is why we are still on the potter's wheel, as He is Healing what we have covered up and are hiding.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 45:9)

God wants us healed, happy and whole.
